Bandi Chhor Divas is a major Sikh observance occurring around the same time as Diwali.
It is associated with Guru Hargobind and his release from imprisonment along with other detained rulers.
The Guru's Release
According to Sikh tradition, Emperor Jahangir imprisoned Guru Hargobind in Gwalior Fort along with 52 Hindu rajas. When the Guru was offered release, he refused to leave unless all 52 rajas were also freed.
The emperor agreed — but only those who could hold onto the Guru's robe could leave. The Guru had a special robe made with 52 tassels, and all the rajas held on and walked free together.
That is the meaning of Bandi Chhor — the liberator of prisoners.
The Golden Temple Comes Alive

It is better to describe Bandi Chhor Divas by its own name and history rather than simply calling it "Sikh Diwali." It is a distinct Sikh observance with profound meaning.
